Delcam host successful UK Technical Seminar

The COMET project consortium gathered for the 8th General Assembly meeting and the closing meeting for 2012, held on 11th-12th December in Sheffield, UK; the same location as the 2nd GA meeting, back in November 2010. Only 2.5 months have passed since the previous GA and significant progress has been noted over that period, with the most important being the official end of R&D work and gaining the project extension for 4 more months. From now on the COMET consortium will be focused on demonstrations and training on the COMET platform.

The COMET project consortium gathered for the 7th General Assembly meeting, held at the striking BTU University Library, Cottbus, Germany from 26th – 28th September 2012. With the end date of the R&D work just around the corner, final polishing of the COMET developments is taking place. Starting from November 2012, the COMET consortium will be focused on demonstrations and training on the COMET platform.

The EC financed COMET research program is targeting the moving control optimisation of industrial robots by making use of high qualified equipment and software, scoping on the development of an immediate exploitable platform solution. Bazigos SA participation on the program is to do with the construction of a fast micro-correction unit.

The COMET project consortium was present at the 6th General Assembly meeting, held at Lund University, Sweden from 11th – 13th April 2012. Now in its final year, the Delcam coordinated project is focusing on demonstrating the advantages of using the complete COMET platform for performing machining operations with industrial robots.

Industrial robot technology could offer the answer for machining, being both flexible and cost efficient.  During this year, the COMET project will continue to integrate each part of the COMET platform and concentrate on demonstrating the advantages of robot machining in a variety of applications, such as automotive parts, mould and die components, and aerospace parts.

The European Commission is co-funding an €8 million project as part of the European Economic Recovery Plan (EERP) adopted in 2008, which targets the use of industrial robots for high-end machining for cost-effective, flexible, and reliable manufacturing solutions for the 'Factory of the Future."
